Musings

sitting at the old grandmas’ table

trying to ignore the pull in my thigh

my twisted ankle, aching shoulder,

I muse on how I got here

the constant laundry, carpools, birthday parties

piano, guitar, computers, ballet

taekwondo, horse-riding, cycling, playdates

puppies, kittens, guinea pigs, budgies

homework, manners, football, gym

shopping and cooking and shopping and cooking

parents’ meetings, outings, clean ups, neighbours

WhatsApps, phone calls, and notes home --

I realise now

I was happy then
