Tempus Fugit

Unfired earthenware, grass seeds, grass 2 x 20 x 15cm

This is a small sculpture of the bones of a hand, but in the colour of earth, a natural clay hue, and not the white of bone. The piece clearly evokes thoughts of death, burial and the transformation of the matter of the body into food for plants and animals- the most fundamental form of recycling. Is this dead or alive? Human remains or sods of earth or plant life?
